How to Install HP Insight Manager

Application Requirements

Functional ID “hpinsight” existed on the server, with admin privilege. The password must be non-expire otherwise HP SIM will stop working when password is changed.

 Product / application Installation

1. Login the server using ID hpinsight.

2. Go to setup

3. Double click setup.exe

4. Click OK to the following message if it shows up

5. Go to Server Manager > Features > Add Features

6. Select SNMP Services to install and click Next

7. Click Install

8. Click Close upon the installation process is complete

  

9.  Click Install under HP Systems Insight Manager 5.2

10.  Go to Services snap-in, and double click SNMP Service

11.  Click Security tab. Add comuniti strings and the host IP to the “Accept SNMP packets from these hosts”. Configure community names as below and hit OK

12.  Click setup.exe for HP Systems Insight Manager 7.1 again

13. Select Install and Use SQL Express if there is no external DB-server. Provide password for hpinsight, and click Next. Note: Password for hpinsight must remain non-expire otherwise the connection to HP Insight Manager will break

14.  Wait several minutes for the SQL Server to be installed

15. Select Custom and hit Next

  

16.  Make sure HP Systems Insight Manager, OpenSSH and WMI Mapper selected (unselect the rest if applicable) and click Next

  

17. Provide the password for the service account, click Next

18.  Click Install

19.  Click Next

20.  Leave it blank and click Next (Administrators already have access)

21. Grant Local Access to Administrators to both secure and unsecured pages and click Next (Port 2301 must be enabled)

22. Select Trust All option and hit Next

23. Click Next

24. Click Next

25. Review the configuration and click Next

26. Wait for the installer to complete

  

27. Click Finish

28.  Click Next to proceed with OpenSSH installation

29.  Click Next

30.  Enter the service ID password and click Next

31. Click Install

32. Click Finish

33. Proceed with WMI Mapper installation, click Next

34. Accept the Agreement and click Next

35. Click Complete button

36. Click Install

37. Wait for installation to be complete

38. Click Finish

39.  Click Next to proceed with the HP SIM installation

40. Click Next

41. Click Next

42. Click Install

43. Wait while the installer runs (may take several minutes to process)

44. Click Finish

45. Make sure that all corresponding components have been installed successfully and click Next

46. Click Register Later button

47.  Select Reboot option and click Finish
